About

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.”

It is an unfortunate reality that many of us are not happy with the bodies that we live in. Something hurts, we think we’re not strong/flexible/smart/funny/thin/weigh enough. We think we’re “broken”, that we “can’t.” We constantly apologize with statements like “sorry, I can’t touch my toes.” We allow ourselves to become “less than.”

I prefer to think, and encourage my students to say, “I am currently not able to touch my toes.” Just because you can’t do something today, doesn’t mean that you will never be able to. Every day we are presented with choices. What time to wake up, what to eat, to move, these are all choices. Every day, I choose to be happy, and to embrace some form of physical movement. Swimming, yoga, walking, running, some is better than none.

Movement allows us to push our limits and heal our physical and mental bodies. We are able to regain range of motion, space, strength, and find balance.
